Produttori Lugana DOC

The Lugana and Lake Garda

“I might have been in Verona this evening: but a magnificent natural phenomenon was in my vicinity,—Lake Garda, a splendid spectacle, which I did not want to miss; and now I am nobly rewarded for taking this circuitous route… with burning desire I wish my friends were here with me for one moment to rejoice at the view ahead of me” J.W. Goethe

The area of production of the Lugana Doc wine reaches out towards the southern bank of Lake Garda, in the towns of Peschiera del Garda, Sirmione, Desenzano del Garda, Pozzolengo and Lonato. The soil of this area was originated from the sediment transport action of the Garda glacier and is characterised by a compact, chalky and marly clay stratification. A clayvey territory with high salinity levels due to mineral sedimentations, as well as the mild microclimat of lake, allow a quality wine production. An area that is considered a small miracle amongst the “Terroir Viticole”.
Lake Garda, sheltered from the surrounding mountains, benefits from a mild and favourable climat that allows a greater temperature range enhancing the scents of a territory with a viticulture vocation.
Grapevines, like olive trees, truly find in this particular corner of territory the ideal microclimat for maximum expression in terms of quality.
Full of historical and natural distinctive traits, from an arstistic and architectural point of view many are the churches, villas and castles that were a Summer home for nobility, merchants and historical personalities that even today can be admired and visited. Sirmione, Peschiera, Lazise, Bardolino, Malcesine, Salò are only a few of the names of the many little villages scattered on the banks of the lake where art, history and tradition are blended giving us some places that are unique in their kind.
